Part 1: lead in
1). Previewing work
Find out where the subjunctive mood is used in three pictures. The two lovers had an appointment ,but the boy overslept and missed the bus. According the case, suppose the accident didn’t happen in the past, what might happen to the young couple?
And then conclude the structure:
If …..had done/ had been….., would/ could/ should / might have done..
2). Present the four situations for students to practise the sentence pattern.
Part 2: Let’s enjoy a beautiful poem ,from which students can find the situation is not the real one.
1)Structure 2: (present)
If …..were/ did….., would/ could/ should / might do …….
2). Present the three situations for students to practise the sentence pattern.
Part 3: Show a Chinese legend --- a love story to an imaginary untrue future possibilities.
Structure 3: (future)
If …..did/ should do/ were to do ….., would/ could/ should / might do …….
2) Translate several sentences into English using this structure in the different styles.
