学情分析
Students in the class are in quite different levels. Some are quick and interested in English learning while other are bored with it. Beautiful poems and songs can help raise students’ interest in language learning. It’s important to create a motivating atmosphere in class for students to read and write their own poems. Encourage students to memorize and perform their own and others’ poetry.
重点难点
Help the students to appreciate good poems. Pay attention to the emotions, rhyme and rhythm.
Students work in groups to write their own poems according the writing steps.
教学过程
Step1. Poem appreciation
Task1. Sharing
Each group shows the poem they collected for the students to enjoy. Introduce the background and raise some questions about the poem.
Task 2. Poem “When you are old”
Play the song “When you are old” for the students to listen. Tell the students the lyrics come from a poem. Introduce the poem and the poet. Ss listen to the poem and fill in the missing words which are also the rhyming words. Students read the poem to understand more.
Step 2. Writing
Task1. Writing tips
Revise the simple forms of the poems: Nursery rhymes, list poems, cinquain, Haiku and our Tang poems. Give Ss some tips on how to write a poem:

Rhyme
Rhythm
Task 2. Practice
Guide the students complete some short poems to understand how to write a cinquain poem and a list poem.
Task 3. Writing
Students work in groups to write a simple poem. Then share these poems in class. Have a competition among groups to encourage them to write more.
