Step I Leading-in

1.1 The teacher reads Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again. Then the teacher shows his own pictures to draw the students’ attention.

1.2 Discussion

“Do you know why people may write poems? Discuss with your partners and show your opinions to us.”

Step II Reading the poems

2.1 New words

The teacher leads the students to read and learn the new words before reading.

2.2 Listening & finding some reasons for people to write poems

After news words, the students listen to the tape and find what various reasons why people write poems are mentioned in the text.

2.3 Five kinds of poems

Before the students to read and decide what poems it is, the teacher show the five kinds of poems ahead of time.

2.4 What poem Poem A is?

The students are asked to read Poem A and answer:

What kind of poem is it?

What kind of language does it use?

What functions does it have?

The students are asked to read Poem A again with good rhythm.

2.5 What poem Poem B and C are?

2.6 What poem Poem D and E are?
