The students I taught are in Grade 2 of the Senior high school. They have grasped some points of learning English and have had a better understanding of English. They are keeping a strong desire to study English and they are active in class. But among the students, there exists a gap between excellent students and normal ones, the teacher should pay attention to the whole class and ensure everyone to join in. I arrange them to have a fast reading of the material and get the general idea. Besides, I ask them to notice how many people around them get addicted to smoking and how about their health. After finishing the tasks, the students become familiar with the topic and get interested in learning through the discussion with their partners. They also can practice their oral English together and grasp more communicating skills and combine the knowledge with the practice. Any student at any stage should learn something and have a preparation of the class after doing their duty.

Part = 3 ﹨ ROMAN III Three-dimensional aims.

Knowledge aims:

1. Learn and master the following words and phrases:

ban, quit , with draw , effect , due to , become addicted to , become accustomed to ,

2. Improve the students’ reading ability.

3. Enable the students to understand the reasons become addicted to smoke and the suggestions to quit smoking.

Ability aims:

1.Improve the students’ reading ability

2.Get the students to understand the material totally and make out the general idea

3.Grasp the main idea of each paragraph

Emotional aims:

1.Enable the students to learn how people get addicted to smoking and how they can quit it

2.Make the students realize the bad effects of smoking and try to keep healthy

3.Help the students work in pairs to practice communicating skills and put what they learn into use

Part IV Teaching important and difficult points

Teaching important points:

Learn the bad effects of smoking and how to give advice on stopping smoking

Teaching difficult point:

Learn in what ways people get addicted to cigarettes.

1.Look at some pictures about activities such as singing, dancing, playing basketball , drinking, smoking before reading to let students judge which are healthy or unhealthy activities ,so that can make the students interested in what they will learn.

2.Discuss after reading to make students master what they have learned better.
