教学过程:
Step 1 Warming up
Talk about a saying about an apple . Ask the students to look at some pictures and then judge which are healthy activities while which are unhealthy one.
Step 2.Pre-reading
Discussion:
According to the pictures and discuss :
Why do you think some adolescents smoke?
Discuss some bad effects of smoking.
Step 3.Skimming
Skim Part 1 and answer the following questions.
Who wrote the letter and who did he write to?
How many parts does the text consist of?
How old is grandpa?
How many ways does a person become addicted to smoking?
Step 4 Careful reading
First listen to the tape and find the main idea of each paragraph. And then read the text carefully to do the true or false choice.
Step 5 Comprehending
Let the students read the second part of the text and fill in the blanks about a passage.
Step 6 .Discussion
Let the students discuss the topic about how to live a healthy life.
Step 7 .Homework
