Teaching procedure
Step 1 Warming up
Warming up by defining
First ask students to define “living well”. Then show some photos of people with disabilities. Students will be asked to make sentences with the information of the photos. Finally define “living well” again.
Suggested answers:
Rosalyn lives well with walking difficulty.
Richard lives well with difficulty with eyesight.
Sally lives well with hearing problems.
Gao Qiang lives well with Down's Syndrome.
Step 2 Pre-reading (略)
Ask students to read the short paragraph in Pre-reading carefully and find out the purpose of the website “Family Village”.
Suggested answers:
1. To give ordinary young people with a disability a chance to share their stories with others.
2. To inspire other disabled people.
3. To get non-disabled people to understand more about how challenging life can be for people with disabilities.
