学情分析

Students may know that we should treat the disabled people equal, but few of them know the real physical and psychological difficulties the disabled people will meet in their everyday life. Therefore, in the very beginning of the class, teachers should arouse students’ interest by experiencing the physical difficulties in the disabled’ life in a game. Then the changes in Marty’s attitude towards his own disabilities in his different life stages would be analyzed. New words and useful expressions in the reading passage should be introduced in the previous period.

教学目标

Knowledge objective:

1. Get the students to learn the following useful words and expressions in this passage: ambition, suitable, beneficial, absence, annoyed, adapt to and so on.

2. Let students get to know some knowledge of physical disabilities.

Ability objective:

Students will be able to practice their reading skills such as skimming and scanning as well as debate skills.

Emotional objective:

1. Students will know more about the difficulties in the life of the disabled people and emphasize the things the disabled can do rather than those they can’t.

2. Students’ awareness of the challenges facing people with disabilities will be heightened and the notion that students with disabilities have similar wishes and desires to non-disabled students will be promoted.

1. Enable students to master the reading skills such as skimming, scanning and getting the main idea of a paragraph or passage.

2. Enable students to further understand the new words and expressions in this passage.

3. Enable students to comprehend the changes in Marty’s attitude towards his own disabilities in his different life stages.

1. Develop students’ ability of processing the structure of a given passage and the emotion line hidden in it.

2. Get students to logically and convincingly express their ideas on a given topic in a debate.
