The content is learning language of unit 1 in Senior English Book seven. This lesson will focus on the grammar part which is about the usage of the infinitive. By revising and summarizing the usage of the infinitive, the students are expected to consolidate the command of the infinitive.
Part II Analysis of Students
The students are in the second term of senior two. They have mastered the major and basic vocabulary required for high school curriculum standards. Moreover, they have acquired some reading comprehension abilities. They have acquired the basic distinction among non-predicative verbs. This lesson is to consolidate the knowledge about the infinitive they learned before.
Part III Teaching Aims
According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, the teaching aims are the following aspects based on the teaching materials.
Knowledge and ability aim
The students can master the functions of the infinitive
The students can analyse the specific function in sentences.
The students can understand the content of the lesson, summarize it and get their own ideas about the usage of the infinitive.
Train students’ abilities of independent learning and cooperative learning.
Process and method aim
Explanation: Guide students to revise and consolidate the knowledge learned.
Exercise: Develop the students analytical ability in finishing some exercises
Emotional aim
The students can get familiar with the usage of the infinitive.
The students can use the infinitive to express in English.
The students can analyse the specific function in sentences.
Part IV Key and difficult Points
Master the usage of the infinitive as subject, object, predicative, object complement, attributive and adverbial.
Memorize the certain structures which are consist of the infinitive.
Memorize the common verbs that use the infinitive as their object.
Grasp the usage of formal subject and formal object.
Remember the verbs that omit the to in the infinitive.
Part V Teaching Methods and Teaching Aids
As is known to all, a good teaching method requires the teacher to help students develop basic skills in English. In order to achieve the teaching aims of this lesson, I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories.
