III. Teaching difficulty

Enable students how to make up their own sentences with would like

Help students how to cooperate and order food

IV. Teaching Procedures

Step1: Leading-in

What do people always talk when they meet? In different countries, the answers are different. So I want to arouse their cultural conscious by asking students about the weather and what we usually say when we meet in England and China.

T: What’s the weather like today?

Ss: It’s …

T: Yes. When people in England meet, they often talk about weather. What about our Chinese people? What do we always say?

你吃了吗?

T: Yes, have you eaten? But do you know why? Look at the map here. What can you see? All kinds of delicious food. That’s because China is a country with so many different kinds of delicious food. For example, hotpot in Sichuan; Peking-duck in Beijing; rice noodles in Yunnan; Dongpo’s pork in Hangzhou; the roast mutton cubes in Xinjiang; and also the strewed noodles in Henan.

So many kinds of delicious foods, what’s your favorite food?

Step2: Presentation

1. Brainstorm: What’s your favorite food? (To review words about food that they have learned before)

T: What’s your favorite food?

S: My favorite food is …

T: Do you know what my favorite food is? I draw and you guess. (Draw a picture of a bowl of noodles)

S: Noodles!
