Step I
Lead-in
Enjoy the song “That’s why you go away” and ask ss to notice the attributive clauses in the song.
Then, make them read the sentences concluding attributive clauses loudly. Work in groups to finish the guided learning plan to understand what attributive clause is and its function and the relation between antecedent and relative pronoun.
Step II
Show the following sentences and ask ss to read them loudly and find the usages of the relative pronouns. Then, work in groups to fill in the form. Later, ask two ss to write the answer on the blackboard.
1.Do you know the woman who/that is talking with your mother?
2.The man (who/whom/that /) she loved died in the war.
3.The boy whose father works abroad is my desk mate.
4.The car (which /that) he bought was a second-hand one.
5.I like those books whose topics are about history.
6.A plane is a machine that/which can fly.
