【使用说明及学法指导】

1.请认真学习本导学案上出现的Unit 3重点单词，并对重点单词的意思进行记忆，争取本节课掌握重点单词的音、形、义、用。

2.Part One部分要求所有同学都能掌握，Part Two挑战部分要求AB层全部完成并有自己的思考，C层尝试完成挑战任务。

Task 1:Read the following passage and sense the meaning and part of speech of the underlined words.阅读文章感知划线单词的词义和词性 (设计意图：让学生在语篇中进一步感知目标单词的词义和词性)

Working at the whaling station(捕鲸站), I was accommodated at the station. Hearing that the killers(虎鲸) helped the whalers(捕鲸者) catch the huge whales, I hardly believed it. But now, as a witness, I dare say it’s true and very cool. I witnessed it with my own eyes many times. One afternoon , as I was sorting out my accommodation, I heard a loud noise coming from the bay. Running down to the shore, we saw an enormous animal opposite us. The opposite killer is called Old Tom, one of the whalers. George called out to me as he ran ahead of me. Without pausing/a pause, we jumped into the boat and I sat opposite George, heading out into the bay. As we drew closer, I could see a whale being attacked by a pack of(一群) about six other killers. The whale tried to dive into the water and flee, but it was stopped by the killers dives. Being badly wounded, the whale soon died. As a drag on a killer, its body was dragged by the killers together down into the depth of the sea. And we brought in its body the next day.

Another day, James was washed off the boat and was carried further and further away from us by the rough waves. George urged that we should turn the boat around. Without abandon, we had an urge to save him. In the meantime, Jame was terrified of being abandoned. Luckily, Old Tom saved him, I saw James being firmly held up by Old Tom, and then went back to the hunt where the other killers were still attacking the whale.
