(1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, writing, especially writing a letter of complaint.

(1)By completing the task, let Ss know how to complain politely and how to handle it.

Part 3 Teaching Methods
As is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims, (after the analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims,) I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories(现代社会交际教学理论) .
1.??Communicative Approach(交际教学法)
2.??Whole Language Teaching(整体语言教学法)
3.??Task-based Language Teaching (任务教学法)
4.??Total Situational Action (情景教学) a “scene — activity” teaching method , it establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss. At the same time, CAI (电脑辅助教学) can provide a real situation with its sound and picture, it can develop the Ss creativity in learning English.
Part 4 Teaching procedures:
Step1. Lead in
T: As usual, I’d like to ask several questions before today’s lesson. While you were sleeping, someone was talking loudly; while you were sleeping, someone was playing music; while you were waiting in line, someone jumped a queue. At that time, what did you want to do?
Ss: ……
T: Yes, let’s come to today’s lesson. In this lesson, we’ll look at a common social action that we’ll find ourselves doing from time to time----- making a complaint.
Step 2 Watch a video
T: Now, let’s watch a video. In the video, Mr. Duncan will teach us how to make a complaint and handle it. And then we’ll fill in some blank according to the video.
Step 3. Make up dialogues
T: In the video, there are two ways of complaint. You can make it in a nice way or you could make it in a rude way. It is always best to make a complaint in a calm and polite way as being rude will only make the situation much worse. Now turn to Page 27, use the useful expressions in the second box to make up dialogues according to the situations on the screen. Choose one of them to complain to the manager of the restaurant with your partner.
