程Step I Lead-in
Get students to focus on several pictures about earthquake in order to not only lay a foundation for the task of sentence-integration, but also offer the vocabulary preparation for the task of report-editing.
Vocabulary preparation:
catastrophe
devastating/ruinous/destructive disaster
sympathetic
scared
heartfelt/sincere/cordial gratitude
inspiration
Step II Presentation
(I) Group discussion
Based on the questions on the handouts, students are required to discuss first and then combine the answers together by using attributive clauses and finally act the conversations out.
(II) Team work---fill in the blank
According to the answer of the last question above--- “There are many survivors whose stories are encouraging”, students are introduced to a passage, which talks about the survivor--- Yue Liuhui.
Ask students to work out the answers and explain the reasons in groups.
(III) Free-talk & Interview
Demonstrate the picture of the heroine of the previous real story who was buried in the rubble and then get students to finish the following tasks in groups.
