Teaching Procedure
Step One: Lead- in
Before class, draw a map of the USA. If you had a chance
to go to a foreign country, which country would you like to
go to? And why? Lead them to the topic of Unit 1 .
Step Two: Warming-up
Ask the students to say something about the USA. Do a
test by matching numbers and descriptions;
Have a competition between boys and girls, which lasts
through the whole class.
Step Three: Fast reading
By asking the students about California, lead the students to the reading text. Read the text and underline the new words. Do some true or false questions.
Step Four: Careful reading
Read the text carefully and do Exercise 1 on Page 3.
Step Five: Presentation
1 Deal with the new words, finding out their meanings
by referring to the vocabulary list、looking up in the
dictionary and asking the teacher. Read the new words;
2 Learn the new words according to the context.
