1. 指导思想
本课设计以George’s Diary 12th-14th June为课堂教学材料,以学生现实生活为出发点和归宿点,以素质教育精神和新课程理念为指导,围绕开展有效教学、构建高效课堂的教学要求,旨在发展学生的语言实际运用能力。本课教学材料以旅行日记为话题,语言较为简单,内容生动有趣,能够引起学生的学习兴趣。根据本班学生英语能力一般的实际学情,课堂问题及课堂活动的设置难度适中,并采用自主学习、小组合作探究及课堂讨论等形式,帮助学生提高英语听说读写能力,着重培养学生的语言输出能力。
2. 教学目标
(1) Knowledge and abilities:
Get students to learn about some famous tourist attractions in San Francisco.
Develop students’ reading skills by using skimming and scanning techniques.
Enable students to write a diary on their own.
(2) Methods:
Task-based teaching and learning.
Cooperative learning.
Discussion.
(3) Emotions and evaluation:
Make students thoughtful and thankful for their life today by learning about the history of Chinese immigrants at Angel Island Immigration Station.
Students evaluate each other and the teacher make a evaluation on the whole.

3. 教学重点与难点
Teaching important point:
(1) Get students to know what famous tourist attractions are in San Francisco.
(2) Enable students to write a diary of their travel experience.
Teaching difficult point:
(1) Develop students’ reading skills by using skimming and scanning techniques.
(2) Enable students to express themselves in English freely and correctly.
二、教学准备
为了达到良好的教学效果,课前我要求学生通过网络和查阅资料了解加利福尼亚的基本概况,激发学生对本节课的兴趣。同时,我搜集了课文中出现的景点的图片,插入课件中,让学生对加利福尼亚的风土人情有一个直观地了解。此外,我特意收集了一首华人移民写在天使岛移民局墙上的诗,使学生对华人移民曾经受到的非人对待感同身受,达成让他们更加珍惜今日幸福生活的这一重要情感目标。
