Teaching procedure:
Step 1 lead-in
Talk about your hobbies while you are free.
Step 2 Reading
Read the following passage and finish the tasks in Fast reading & Careful reading.
Reflect on the reading strategies adopted in those parts.
Step 3 discussing & speaking
Now in groups discuss which extinct animals described below (which died out less than 10,000 years ago) are worth restoring by means of cloning. When you have both agreed on one animal, make a list of the benefits of bringing it back to life.
Then, make a speech reporting the result of your discussion which extinct animals are worth restoring by means of cloning?(each speech 3-5 points, if you can use other sentences to replace the underlined ones in the passage, you may get 1 point for each way of expression)

Listen to the tape and fill in the forms.(1point for each blank)

Step 5 Role Play
Suppose you are an extinct animal, voice your inner thought about cloning. Then you will put on a short play to present your idea. (each group stands for one extinct animal) You may use your own ideas as well as those in the text. The expressions below may be helpful to you. (each group will get 1-3 points according to your presentation)
Step 6 Evaluation
The winner may enjoy an English song as a treat, while the losers will have to choose the homework behind the two famous singers.
Step 7 Consolidation
If animals and human beings work hand in hand, shoulder by shoulder, then we are to build a beautiful world . We are living in the same world, we are sharing the same dream.
