Teaching Procedures:

Step 1. Daily sentences correcting

Correct the sentences students made on the blackboard.

Step2 . Warming Up

Look at some pictures and discuss what inventions are and get Ss to know the difference between a discovery and an invention.

Discuss the inventions’ influence on our life.

Step 3. Pre-reading

Ask Ss to work out the suitable order of the steps in scientific research or application of a patent..

Step 4 Lead-in

Ask Ss to look at the title and predict the invention to solve the problem of the snakes.

Step 5. Fast reading

Get Ss to skim the text and fill in the blanks of the main idea.

Step 6.Careful reading
