All the students are expected to be filled with passion for botanical garden of Beijing Expo in 2019 and be proud of our homeland.

II Analysis of the teaching material:

This is the second part of this unit. The emphasis of the part should be laid on the application of the useful words and expressions in context.

The teaching difficult point lies in the new words and expressions.

Discussion and speaking is an opportunity for the students to develop cooperation and be more creative, which meanwhile, is more challenging. All of these lay the foundation for the writing and comprehensive application in context.

Ⅲ Analysis of the students

This is the first time that grade 1 students in senior high school have encountered the topic of the plants exploration. Students from No.1 Senior High School have moderate English proficiency. They have previewed the reading of this unit before this class, understood some of the background knowledge about the history of plants exploration.

Ⅵ Teaching procedures

Step 1. Lead –in

Appreciate a video about Beijing Expo in 2019 and answer the question: What is this video about?

Purpose: This step is to attract the students’ interests and know basic information about Beijing Expo.

Step 2 Presentation

Present some pictures about flowers in the video to introduce “botanical garden” in Beijing Expo.

Present new words and expressions in context about the history of plants exploration especially the different ways to transport plants in different times , for example, nowadays and earlier times. And then explain the new words and expressions in English.

Purpose: The purpose of this part is to present new words in the context, which helps students get ready for the following part.

Step3. Practice

Practice the new words and expressions by spelling, matching the words the meanings, and filling in the blanks.
