Difficult points : To tell the differences between the Present Progressive Tense and the Simple Present Tense

Teaching procedures :

Step 1 (1) Warm up : A game

T : Here are some actors , including me , please guess what we are doing ? You can ask the actors , or you can ask your partner.

A student acts , another student asks : What is he /she doing ? or Is he / she doing ---? (Five activities in all )

(2) Review : v-ing.

Show some verbs on the screen .

T : Do you know how to get “—ing” .Please have a try.

Step 2 Activity 2d

1 Check their previewing work:

T : Before listening , I’ll check how well you have previewed at home. Can you say these in English? (Read out new words.)

2 Study 2d . First , read 2d with the task on the screen. --- have a mathch.

3 Check the answers by asking ;

What is Laura doing ? What’s Jenny doing ?

Do they want to eat out or go to the movie ?

4 Practise reading 2d: Ask students to read it together, and repeat it after the tape .

Step 3 Present

1 How to introduce yourself on the phone;This is Jenny. / Jenny speaking. /It’s Jenny speaking. / It’s Jenny here.

2 Not much . 没什么大事。

3 join sb. for ----

译 : 你能和我一起吃晚饭吗? 你能和我一起踢足球吗?

4 I’d love to . 我很乐意(接受旁人的邀请)

5 After the pretention, ask all the students to read 2d in roles.

Step 4 Present How to tell the differences between the simple present tense and the present progressive tense .

T :You can tell the differences according to the time in a sentense or the meaning of the sentence .(PPT 11)

Consolidate by exercising .

Step 4 Wrap up

Wrap the important grammar points on the board.

Step 5 Homework.

1 Master new words and phrases.
