Difficult points: It may be a little difficult for students to voice their opinions concerning whether it’s dangerous to live in Australia and how to protect ourselves from the dangerous animals mentioned in the passage;

Preparations
Check whether students know the new words in the reading passage;
Read after the teacher to get familiar with the new words;
Warming-up
Read the title of the text, look at the pictures in the text, and guess what the text is about;
Share an article that I have read in a magazine titled “Why does Australia have such a small population?”
Ask students to think whether it is really dangerous to live in Australia.
Reading
Ask students to read the text carefully and finish a form on the blackboard;
Lead students to think whether it is dangerous to live in Australia and why they think so using the given sentence patterns.
Post-reading
Ask students to think about the author’s writing purpose;
Enjoy a video about box jellyfish and funnel-web spider to make students know more about these two special kinds of dangerous animals in Australia;
