StepⅠ Lead-in
1.Greetings.
2.Ask some students to list some famous animals in Australia, and ask whether they know some dangerous animals in Australia what they should pay attention to if they are offered a chance to travel around Australia. Thus lead to today’s topic.
Step Ⅱ Extensive Reading
Pre-reading
1.Ask Ss just read the title and look at the picture to predict what they expect to read in the text
2.Ask Ss to read the whole text and check whether their predictions are right and tell the main idea of the text
While-reading
1.Divide the passage into 2 parts. For the first part, that is to learn some detailed information of five dangerous creatures mentioned in the text. In this part, Ss will be asked to find some specific information to fill in the blanks while listening to the tape. Ss will learn the passage one paragraph by one paragraph, which means Ss will get to know the information of one animal each time.
2.After filling the detailed information, they will have to answer one or two questions mentioned by the teacher in order to further understand the passage.
3.Ss will be divided into 5 groups . Those who can answer the questions actively and correctly will help add one point to their group.
4. After learning the basic information of the mentioned animals, Ss will enjoy a short video named "Deadly animals in Australia" to pick up some more dangerous animals.
5.Lead Ss to think over "Since there are so many dangerous animals, whether Australia is an unsafe place to live in or visit." Based on the above information, Ss will listen to the tape to get some statistics about the death caused by the dangerous animals in previous 3-5 years. After getting hang of the numbers of the death, try to figure out what helps reduce the death caused by dangerous animals. Besides, Ss will learn about Anti-venom treatment.
Step Ⅲ Discussion
1.Divide Ss into five groups and each group represents one animal according to the text. Discuss with the group members about How to prevent from being attacked by the dangerous animals while travelling in Australia.
