Step 1 Leading in
1. Show the most famous sentence from PRIZE AND PREJUDICE and arouse Ss' interest towards the novel and writer
2. Give a brief introduction of Jane Austen.
3. Show Ss a scene from the film Pride and Prejudice, in which Elizabeth met Mr. Darcy at a ball for the first time and arouse Ss' interest to read the text.

Use skimming and scanning to find the answer of following questions.

2.Why was Mr. Darcy sure that she would accept him?

Step 3 Careful-reading and role-play
1. Teach Ss the difficult words and expressions of the dialogue between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy
2. Role- play in a group and pay attention to the emotions and tones.
