Step1 Warming up
1 . The teacher shows a map of china to students and let them speak out the names of the city or province on the map,using the following useful expressions. In the east of…,to the west of…,etc.
e.g.Shandong lies in the east of China.
2. The teacher teaches the phrases lie to,lie in,lie on,gives them examples and let them know the differences.
3. Teacher shows the world map to students and ask them some questions.
e.g.Which country lies to the north of China?
Where is the Pacific Ocean?
Step2.Groupwork
1. The teacher speaks out the some names of the places and then students point them out on the map.
2. Discuss what you can learn about New Zealand.
Islands that make up New Zealand.
Mountains and mountain ranges,highest peak.
Possible area for farming.
Major cities.
Then check the answers together.
Step3. Pre-reading
Show some pictures of New Zealand and students may be interested in the topic.Ask them some simple questions to see how much they have already known abouth the country.
Task:
