二、学情分析

本课的授课对象为本校的高二年级学生,授课对象为本校高二年级学生,他们有一定的阅读能力,分析能力以及英语的表达能力,但是他们的基础水平比较差。本课材料内容涉及到高考的问题,此时也是高三学生正要准备高考的紧张时候,对于学生来说既熟悉又关心的内容。所以上课之前,同学们已经通过课文,学案等相关内容和文章有一定的了解。

Teaching goals

After reading,students are expected to

1. get the main idea of the text.

2. get the hang of the skills of skimming reading, fast reading as well as scanning reading with the key words.

3. have positive attitudes towards various setbacks and difficulties, also cope with them optimistically in the future.

Teaching procedures

Step 1 Leading-in

Enjoy a video to arouse students’ interests and spirits. Then answer the questions:

What do you think of him? /What adjectives would you use to describe him?

(discussing)

2 . Was he dealing with difficulties or disasters?

Step 2 Reading

A: Fast reading(Answer three “Ws”).Let students know the main character and the problem he coped with.

1).Who coped with disaster?

2).What did the disaster refer to?

3).What’s the main idea of the passage? ( )

A.How Liu Xiaoming’s parents persuaded him to work in a school.

B.How Zhang Guoqing got admitted to Shangdong University on his fifth attempt.

C.How Liu Xiaoming coped with his problem after failing the college entrance examinations.

B:Skimming reading.After finishing the exercises, students can get the structure of the text as well as the main idea of each part.

Read the passage quickly and match the main idea with each part.

Part 1 ( Para1 ): An article researched the happiness and lifestyle.

Part 2 ( Para2 ): I failed the exam and my parentsdid their best to help me.
