An analysis of the teaching content

This is the writing part of Unit 4, Book 6. As the last period of this unit, it will train students’ integrating skills. In previous classes students have learned something knowledge about global warming and what we can do about global warming. Therefore, protecting the environment is a familiar topic for them. The listening material, which provides more ways to protect the environment, is mainly used to accumulate more input material for the speaking and writing part. Students will be encouraged to provide more methods of what we can do to improve our environment, which may offer more useful information to the writing part. As the main part of this class, I ask students to translate six sentences in pairs using the important expressions in this unit and then organize them into a logical passage.

An analysis of the students

As students in Senior 2, they are curious and active. Most students in this class are cooperative as well. They are willing to express themselves but usually not clearly and logically enough as a consequence of lack of related words and expressions.

In previous classes they have gained some basic information about global warming. Moreover, they have learned some words and expressions about it, which will be greatly helpful in this class.

Teaching objectives

Knowledge goals:

Make students realize the importance and necessity of protecting the environment;

Enable students to know some ways to protect the environment.

Ability goals:

Develop students’ listening ability to gain key information;

Try to stimulate students’ thinking ability and express their opinions clearly;

Get students to transform input knowledge into their short articles in a logical way.

Emotion goals:

Develop students’ awareness of protecting the environment;

Encourage students to be more cooperative and creative.

Make students acquire more information about what we can do to improve our environment ;

Help students to organize their articles logically.
