Most students of Senior Grade 3 are aware of the importance of expressing their gratitude in their daily life. Facing the fierce competition of the college entrance exam, they also know the importance of mastering the skills of writing a good letter of thanks. However, their small vocabulary and poor grammar lead to their failure in writing a good composition. So, according to their learning situation, I asked them to write a letter of thanks before this lesson, marked each of their composition and picked out some typical mistakes they made. Then I typed those incorrect sentences in the handout to let students correct the mistakes (This activity can help improve their ability of mistakes correcting). After the warming up period, they have clear learning aims of this lesson and the ability of self-directed learning, they know the brief structure of writing a letter of thanks and they can write some simple expressions about gratitude in English, but their ability of using correct sentences and advanced sentence patterns needs to be improved.

1．Knowledge goals
（1）To enable students to bear some useful expressions in writing a letter of thanks in mind.
（2）To get students to recite some relative sentence patterns in writing a letter of thanks.

（1）To improve students’ writing skills based on different writing purposes.
（2） To get students to write a good composition according to what they’ve learned in this lesson.

（1）To encourage students to learn to be grateful to those who help them or be kind
