The lesson that I am going to teach is Unit 2 “English around the world” using language part taken from English Book 1, published by People’s Education Press. This is a listening, writing and speaking class. The text is mainly about a story that happened in America. To make the students have a better understanding of the text, it’s sensible to give the students a general picture of the listening part. During listening, I will tell them how to finish the listening tasks quickly by using the related skills.
3. Teaching objectives
1) To get the main idea of the story.
2) To share their different ideas with each other in speaking and writing activities. 4. Teaching Focus
1) The students are able to retell the text. (Difficult point)
Ways out: Provide the students with some cues for reference.
2) The students are able to use some listening skills to finish the listening tasks. (Key point)
Ways out: before they do the tasks, tell the students predict what would happen based on the pictures, and how to find out some key words..
5.Teaching Methodology
In today’s language teaching, teachers should take the role of scaffolding for the students. He should not tell the students everything, but provide support for the students to finish the tasks on their own. Another key element in language teaching is interaction, without which language cannot be learned. Therefore, the class time should be given to the students’ interactive activities.
With the teacher’s careful scaffolding and the students’ meaningful interactions, the language class will be successful in developing the learners’ communicative competence in the end.

Predict the content of the passage by brainstorming activity. And then give the students some background information about the story.
Purposes: To facilitate the students to get closer and closer to the text.
