Teaching procedures:

Step1 Lead-in

T:Today we are going to share our lesson with many teachers and students because it will be put online later. Are you nervous now? What are some other things that make you nervous？One might be taking a test. Another might be speaking in front of a large group of people. Today we will meet with a man who is nervous about everything in the story The Open Window by Saki. May be we are not familiar with the writer. Firstly, let us learn something about him.

Step2 Pre-reading

Introduction of Saki(pen name, nationality, famous for wit and humor).

Step3 Reading

1. Fast reading

1). Find out the main characters and their relationship.

A. Mr. Framton Nuttel--- a visitor to the country

B. Vera--- the young lady, the niece

C. Mrs. Stappleton--- the aunt

2). Put the events in the right order.

a. The girl pointed to a large French window and said Mrs. Sappleton’s husband and two brothers had drowned.

b. When he saw the girl, Framton felt nervous.

c. The girl entered the room.

d. She said that her aunt believes they will come back some day

e. She said that her husband and brothers would be back soon.

f. Mrs. Sappleton came into the room.
