Show students an illustration from the story and ask them some basic information about these characters.
Listen to a record and recall the tragedy of Mrs. Sappleton. Arouse students' interest and lead in the topic for this lesson.

Practise the listening skills Step 2. Reading
1. Read the beginning of part 2 and think of the following the question:
When it comes to continuation writing(续写), what elements will you be thinking of?
2. Show Ss the story mountain of the plot.
