Help students understand the development of the story by drawing a mind map.

Some students may have difficulty expressing themselves.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Play a short video a boxing match and ask students what they have learned from the video.
Step 2 Introduction
The students are required to search the internet for some information about the writer in advance. Therefore, in this step, check it with the students while introducing the author.
Step 3 Reading
1. Pair wok
Work in pairs to draw a mind map of the story to get the main idea. Show a sample structure on the screen.
2. Retelling
Retell the story according the mind map.
Step 4 Character features
Lead the students to analyze the character features of Laurie and Jinny.
Step 5 Language focus
Appreciate the sentences with the present participle used as adverbial in the story.
Step 6 Post reading
1. Discussion
What could have happened if Laurie had turned a blind eye to the tape? Ask several students to give a report of the result of their discussion.
2. Role playing
Work in pairs to add a dialogue between Laurie and Jinny at the end of the story. Then ask several pairs of students to act out the dialogues in the class.
