It is about a story how Keesh, from the poorest igloo in the village, rose to power and became the leader of his people. Keesh was a thirteen-year-old boy, living on the edge of the North pole a long time ago. He and his mother were treated unfairly in the village after his father Bok died of a fight with a giant polar bear during a famine. He and his mother were not given enough meat to eat, so he decided to go hunting by himself. All the villagers laughed at him because they didn’t think a kid could kill a bear. After Keesh succeeded in killing a bear, they were so shocked that they believed Keesh used magic. They asked two young hunters to follow Keesh when he went hunting, and then they didn’t insist their initial thought any longer. However, they still didn’t know how it was that Keesh killed a bear until he revealed the secret. Everyone was amazed at Keesh’s intelligence and selflessness. Keesh became the new chief in the village in the end.
