a. The reading passage tells how English developed and how it is spoken in the world.
3. 学情分析
The students in Senior One are generally curious and active, while they may be shy and afraid of making mistakes; Although the students have been learning English for several years, they may not know much about the development of the English language; The students just stepped into high school, so they need much more practice to improve their reading skills and much guidance when doing reading tasks; The students don’t have a large vocabulary, resulting in that they may find it difficult to finish the tasks, so the teacher should put up the scaffolding properly.

3. Cultural awareness: Students will be able to become aware of the importance of English and cultivate their intercultural awareness;
4. Learning ability: Students will be able to get to know more access to English learning and learn individually and cooperatively.

(Based on the analysis of the teaching material and the students, I think, in this lesson, the most important things are to understand the development of the English language by working out the timeline and to improve the reading skills by skimming, scanning and detailed reading. Besides, the questions in Detailed Reading are most difficult as the students must process the information they get from the text and it is not easy for students to express their ideas rationally.)
二、教学准备
After analyzing the teaching material, I set the teaching objectives as well as the important and difficult points of this lesson and designed the reading tasks and homework. Then I searched the picture of Trump and Teresa May as well as the map of English speaking countries in the internet and added text to the pictures. By referring to the refence books and the information in the internet, I sorted out the three main differences between British English and American English. Then I made up three dialogues between Trump and Teresa May. Finally, the PowerPoint was completed.
