Lead-in and warming-up. (8minutes)
Firstly, I will present some pictures about the stone age caveman’s tools and weapons. Then, I will give students 3 minutes to have a free talk about “what do you think the ancient life was like?” . After that, I will play a video clip about the stone age caveman’s daily life. During the time, students should think about what kind of tense the reporter used when he was describing the actions of the cavemen. Afterwards, I’ll ask some students to answer what information they learned from the documentary.

Designing Purpose: Those pictures can focus the students’ attention, and it is also helpful for the students’ understanding of the learning materiel. The video clip is a good object to start the lesson because most of them can do well in visual thinking. They will be active at the beginning of the class. The active atmosphere is beneficial to me to continue the lesson.
Step2:
Listening and reading comprehension. (18 minutes)
For the first time, I will let the students close their books and listen to the passage “The Stone Age Cavemen” carefully. The students should write down the verbs used in the passage. The verbs should be spelled correctly according to the tense. After that, there is a competition for them to see who does it best. For the second time, students can open their books and listening to the passage again, then answer the related questions below, such as “Check all the verbs in the passage above. How many tenses did the author use?” They should answer me in English and I’ll check the answers one by one.
Designing purpose: By doing listening and reading comprehension, students can be more aware of the relation between time and action. It has developed students’ listening and note-taking skills. The competition can also stimulate the enthusiasm of the students participating.
Step3:
Game playing. (8 minutes)
The language goals in this unit is to let students talk about usual actions in proper tenses. All of the students have learned it before, but they didn’t have a clear map of the simple tenses. So I’ll draw a time line for them. After that, there is a game for them. Students should work in pairs. Student A makes sentences by using one simple tense, and student B should re tell the sentense but by using two different simple tenses.
Designing purpose: By drawing the time line, students can be more clear about different simple tenses and by playing game, students can also learn knowledge from it. Step 4:
