Step 1: Warm up and lead in
Activity 1: Free Talk
Picture talking: T greets ss. T shows ss some pics of traveling in different places. T informs ss that there are many TV programs about different places in the world.
【设计意图】:通过图片导入介绍世界不同地方人文特色的节目,由此引出Around the World这个节目。
Activity 2 : Introduce the TV program Around the World
Ss are going to be the host of the program Around the world. Around the world is a program which helps people to know more about the world. The program covers four parts: places, weather, activities and Live Room. T guides ss to explore the four parts of the program one by one.
【设计意图】:创设真实情景,让学生在语境中运用目标语法。
Step 2: Presentation
Activity 1: Describe the weather
Recognize places: T shows ss a map of the world and then let them find the countries they know.
Talk about the weather:
Ss make dialogs to describe the weather in different places around the world:
【设计意图】:让学生回忆起前一课时的内容,使得学生在与教师的互动之中使用目标语言。通过运用世界各地的真实的气象信息,让学生进一步运用天气的需要知识,在真实的情景中,进行问答。
Activity 2: Describe people’s activities
T guides ss to explore the third part “Activity”. In this part, ss are going to describe what people are doing in different places.
T shows ss a world map. Ss listen to the phone call between two friends and complete the dialogue. Then T shows ss another four dialogues and asks ss to help her complete the conversations.
After finishing blank filling, T asks ss two questions:
How to start a conversation? How’s it going?
When should we use “be + doing” and “do/ does”?
be + doing : at the moment/ now /right now
do/does: every day/ every morning/every Saturday/always/usually/often
【设计意图】:以通电话的形式,真实地呈现语言的功能对课本里的练习进行改编,把练习融入到语境中进行操练,使学生能在语境中运用目标语法。每个小对话都设计成讲电话的形式,使学生能身临其境地感受语言的功能。
Step 3: Practice
Activity 1: Listen and choose
Students listen to the tape about a family’s activities and choose the right picture.
Activity 2: Retell
Ss retell what the family members are doing and what the weather is like according to the right picture.
