5、Teaching aids

6、Teaching procedure
It consists of 5 steps.
Step1 is lead-in. In this part, I’ll greet my students first. And then I’ll show several pictures to them and ask them” what time is it? What time do you usually go to school? ...” My students may answer like this:” It is two thirty . I go to school at seven.” then I will ask them to do a pair work using the sentence pattern according to the pictures. ”what time do you ....?”
The purpose of the step is to arouse students’ interest and create a relaxing atmosphere. Besides, it is to review the main sentence pattern and lots of phrases about daily activities.
Step 2 is presentation. In this part, I’ll draw a mind map to review what we have learnt in the unit 2. By showing a sentence and explaining each part of it, such as adverbs, daily activities, expression of time and so on, review the whole unit.
The purpose of the step is to help students have a clear understanding of the new content and lay a foundation for the next step.
The next step is practice. There are two different parts, including listening and reading. They’re arranged from easy to complex.
As for the first listening task, I’ll play the record once, I’ll say” listen to the tape carefully and fill in the blanks” Before listening, I will help them to guess what they will write.
The task is very easy for them. But if they cannot listen to it carefully, I will play it again to check the answer and require them to read it.
As for the second reading task, I’ll ask two students to write their answers on the blackboard. and I’ll say like this: ”now I want to introduce an old friend to you. But if you want to know his daily routine, you have to use the words in the box to fill in the blanks.” After checking the answers, I will ask them to find out which activity is healthy or which is unhealthy.
In the period, I would offer them some listening strategies like grasping the key words and some reading skills, such as skimming and scanning.
I believe through these activities, students' listening abilities and reading skills can be greatly improved.
Now let's talk about the consolidation. In this part, I’ll design two activities for them to practice. Activity one is interview. Interview your classmates what time they usually do on weekends in a group. Activity two is writing. Write down the healthiest daily routine in the group.
This step can strengthen the new content and cultivate students' cooperative spirit.
The last step is the summary and homework. As we all know, students are the center in our class, so according to the mind map on the blackboard, I will lead them or ask someone to be a little teacher to conclude what we have learnt today. My homework is to share your families’ daily routines with your classmates.
7、Blackboard design.
In order to make my teaching points clearly, I will write down the mind map to help them conclude what we have learnt and how to make sentences like that.
