Ⅰ. Warming-up and lead in
To create an English environment, the teacher shows the class a video about how to read the clock. And ask students to read the time out.
Ⅱ. Presentation
1. T : All of you did a good job, we have learnt some ways read the time, today we will learn a new way to read the time。
2. Teach students how to read the time using “past”、“half past”、“to”。
T : This is a clock. We divide the clock into four areas.
(1) When the long hand points to the top, we use “o’clock”. We have known how to use “o’clock”, now let’s learn “past”.
(2) When the long hand is in this area, we use “past”. First, we read the minutes, then, we read the hour.
Teach how to read the time using “past”
(3) When the long hand points to the bottom, we use “half past”.
Teach how to read the time using “half past”.
(4) When the long hand is in this area, we use “to”.

Ⅲ. Practice
1. Show some pictures about time on the big screen. Let students discuss how to read them.
2. Show time. (the student who gives the right answer can get one point)
