学 Step 1 Lead in
T: As you know, I am a big fun of Mickey mouse. Do you know why? I have a precious photo to share with you.
Ss: Yes. I do.
T: ( show a photo of myself and ask questions.) Look at my precious photo. It means a lot to me. Do you know what happened that year?
S1: Because you got a job at Walt Disney World.
T: Great. When I was working there I took so many wonderful pictures.
Let’s look at one of them.( show another photo)
In the picture, what can you see beside me?
S2: Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck
T: Yes, you know they are…….
S3: Cartoon characters.
Then the teacher ask Ss to guess what cartoon characters they are by listening to some music.
The answers are: Hulu brothers, Xiyangyang, Doraemon, Monkey King.
T: When people say Chinese culture, they often think of Monkey King. So We regard Monkey King as the symbol of Chinese culture. Do you know what the symbol of American culture is?

学Step 2 Before Reading
Play a short video about the introduction of Mickey Mouse and Steamboat Willie.
Step 3 While Reading
1) Ask student to finish task one: find the main idea in 30 seconds. ( skimming)
2) Check the answer of task one and ask students to find the main idea of each paragraph.( scanning)
3) Ask Ss read for details.
① Complete the time line.
4) Ask students to listen to paragraph 2 and finish the blanks.
