Look at pictures and learn new words, such as pilot、violinist、pianist、
scientist、computer programmer、engineer.
Step 3: A game
Use some word cards to help students remember the new words better.
Game rule: One student see the word cards and act by using his body language, and others guess what the job is.
Step 4: Pre-listening (Prediction)
Look at the picture and guess what are their dream jobs.
Step 5: While-listening
1、Listen and write down the students’ dream jobs.
Learn the strategies about how to write down long words during listening.
e.g Write down the first letters and complete the whole words later.
Listen again and find out how the students make their dreams come true.
Step 6: Post-listening (Pair-work)
Students ask their classmates their dream jobs by using the following three questions.
What are you going to be when you grow up?
Why are you going to be a/an...?
How are you going to become a/an...?
Step 7: Judy’s dream job
1、Guess what Judy is going to be in the future and then students try to find the answer from a short vedio. (Vedio 1)
2、Think about two questions: (Vedio 2)
Why is Judy going to be a police officer?
Do Judy’s parents believe her? Why?
Think about three questions: (Vedio 3)
Does Judy give up her dream?
Does Judy’s dream come true?
How does Judy become a police officer?
Think about one question:
What can we learn from Judy?
Let students retell Judy’s story.
