Step1. leading-in and teach the new words.
Have a free talk with the students.
T: do you have a hobby?
Ss: yes, I do.
T: what do you want to be when you grow up?
Ss: I want to be a/an …
T: you are great, ok, now I will show you some pictures, can you guess their jobs ?(what is his/her job?)
Show the pictures on the screen. Review the old words and teach the new words by guessing games:
grow up, computer programmer, cook, doctor, engineer, violinist, driver, pilot, pianist, scientist.
Step2. Practice reading the words
1. Give students 1 mintues to practice reading these words by themselves.
2.Invite some students to read the words one by one.
3. Let students ask and answer with their deskmates.
Step3:Listening practice
Call attention to the items in activity 1b. let the students read the items before listening to the tape.
Now listen to the tape and finish 1b.then check their answers.
Step4: Practice the conversation
