(1) Tell students to read the resolutions in 1a and make sure they know what to do.

(2) Tell students to listen and circle the resolutions they hear.

(3) Play the recording for the students to listen and circle.

(4) Check the answers.

2. Teach activity 1d

(1) Ask students to look at the chart in 1d and tell students that Lucy, Kim and Mike are talking about their New Year’s Resolutions.

(2) Ask students to pay attention to how are Lucy, Kim and Mike going to do it? Then listen and try to fill in the blanks

(3) Students listen to the recording carefully and try to fill in the blanks.

(4) Check the answers with the class.

3. Writing

Let students talk about three students’ resolutions and write them down by filling in the blanks.
