Step 1 Warm-up

1.Greetings.

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

Ss: Good morning, Miss Zhang.

Ss: Thanks.

2. Watching a video and answer the question: What are they talking about?

(开门见山,通过一段小视频导入本课的话题resolutions, 视频由班级个别学生录制,能够吸引其他同学的注意力,同时贴近他们自己的生活,容易引起共鸣。)

3. Free talk

Q1: Did you make any resolutions before?

Q2: Were you able to keep them? Why or why not?

(同学们在之前基本上都有过制定计划或决定,针对第一个问题他们有话可说,另外一些同学能够保持他们的决定而一些同学中途因为各种原因放弃了,进行第二个问题的探讨为文章的阅读以及之后的讨论奠定基础。)

Step 2 Presentation

1. Fast reading

1) Read each paragraph and then get the main idea. Ask students to read the whole passage quickly, find the key words and key sentences, then summarize the sentences to get the main idea.

(这一部分旨在让学生对全文框架有个初步的了解,锻炼了学生找中心句以及总结的能力。)

2) Read the passage again, put the sentence A-D in the correct places in the passage. Give students three minutes to find the answer and ask them to tell the reason.

(这一部分难度稍大,平时训练中填空训练较少,除了找出答案之外,让学生找出原因,有利于让学生了解到此类题型的做法。)

2. Careful reading

1)Read the first paragraph, and discuss the questions in groups.
