Step 1: Warming-up. Show some pictures about myself. What do you usually do on weekends? Next Saturday is my birthday, can you come to my party?
Step 2: Words competition. Ask student to spell the word and read after the student.
Step 3: Look at the picture in 1a and talk about what do they do in the picture. Then do the task in 1a.
Step 4: Listening 1b. Listen and write the names next to the correct students in the picture.
Then act as the students in the picture to role-play the conversation.
Step 5 Speaking 1c. Talk about the pictures in 1a. Make conversations. Give students a sample before they do the task.
Step 5 Pair Work A: Can you come to my party? B: Sure, I’d love to. C: Sorry, I can’t. I have to go to the doctor.
Step 6 Listening 2a. Listen to the conversation and circle can or can’t.
Listening 2b. Who can’t go to the party? Why? Complete the chart.? ? ?
Step 7 Speaking 2c. Look at the reasons in the chart in 2b. Then invite your partner to do something.
A: Hey, Dave. Can you go to the movies on Saturday?
B: I’m sorry, I’m not available. I have too much homework this weekend.
A: That’s too bad. Maybe another time.
B: Sure, Joe. Thanks for asking.
Step 8 Role –play the conversation.
Read the conversation and then ask the teacher’s questions.
1. Can Nick come to Jeff’s house on Saturday?
2. Can Nick hang out with them on Monday night?
Give students a few minutes to prepare the conversation and then challenge themselves. Do the task named “The Missing Words”.
