Use a picture of a party to lead in the topic.
StepⅡ: Pairwork
1. Make two models to the Ss:
(1)--- Can you come to my party? ---Sure, I’d love to.
(2)--- Can you come to my party? ---Sorry, I can’t. I have to help my parents.
2. Have Ss work in pairs to make their own conversations. Then invite several pairs to share theirs with the class.
Step Ⅲ: Listening
Call attention to activity 2a. Have Ss read through the context in the box and then play the
recording. Have Ss only listen. Then play the recording again. Have the Ss listen and circle the answers. Next check the words.
Do activity 2b in the same way.
Step Ⅳ: Groupwork
1. Have the students read the conversation in activity 2c. Explain the new words.
2. Have the students add more reasons in the chart.
3. Have the students work in groups, then make a conversation about inviting friends to do something and friends accept the invitation or decline the invitation and give reasons.
4. Invite two or three groups to share their conversations with the class.
Step Ⅴ:Role play
Listen to the conversation in 2d and imitate the pronunciation and intonation .
Have the students scan the conversation in activity 2d and underline the new words. Then
