Step 1 Greeting and Lead-in. 3’

Get student to enjoy a short cartoon movie<>. Ask

T: What are they doing? Ss: They are having a party.

T: Can you come to the party?

Help Ss to answer“Sure , I’d love to./Sorry, I can’t.” Lead into the class.

Step 2 Presentation. 4’

Learn the phrases by showing some pictures. Have the flu; go to the doctor; prepare for an exam; go to the concert. At the same time , Show the target language about making, accepting and declining invitations and give reasons. and get Ss to ask and answer.

—Can you come to my party/ ? — Sure, I’d love to.

—Sorry, I can’t. I have to… —Sorry, I’m afraid not. I must…

—I’d love to, but I have too much homework …

Step 3 Game. 4’

Show a clock with Chinese phrases, Let the clock turn. When it stops ,Ss say out the phrases of reasons as soon as possible according to the direction of the arrow. Then show the phrases and help Ss to master them.
