Step1. Lead-in
Ask students a question about the date today.Then lead in the Christmas Day is coming next month and one of my friend invites me to her party to celebrate the festival.
Step2. Presentation
1. Sentence patterns
Show three short videos of how to make, accept and decline invitations. Then present the sentence patterns to the students clearly.
New words
Present new words by show some pictures on the screen and expand other word phrases for them.
Step3. Activity 1a and a guessing game
Guide the students to analyze the situation of the picture in 1a and let the students finish Activity 1a in 1minute.Then give students two minutes to memorize the word phrases. After that, play a guessing game.
Step3. Listening
Play the tape for two times.The first time just listen, and after the second time, check the answers together.
Step4. Pair work
Ask students to work in pairs to make invitations, accept invitations and decline invitations. Then invite several pairs to show their dialogues in class.
Step5. Make a survey
Ask students to fill in the chart about their weekend activities according to their own situation.
I’m going to hold a party for my son’s third birthday next Saturday afternoon. And ask students who can come to my party and who can’t come to my party. Let students to work in a group of four to do the survey and do a report.
