Step 1. Lead-in
Warming up Greet with each other and ask the date, then try to ask the question: What kinds of parties do you know?
Lead in Have a free talk with the students and use Mother’s Day to give the topic of this passage..
Step 2. Presentation
Present the new words and phrases on the screen with the help of some pictures: glad, sad, look forward to doing sth., help out with some preparations, prepare things we need for the party .
Drills: Practice the new words and phrases in different ways, such as whole class work, individual work, or group work. And put the phrases into sentences and real situation.
Step 3. Pre-reading
Here I will give three question to ask students to focus on the passage.
1.How many messages in 2b?
2.Are they letters or e-mails?
3.Who wrote these messages?
Step 4. While-reading
According to the three e-mails, I will give students three tasks to finish.
Skimming
(1)Skim the messages . Why did the people write them? Match the reason with each message .
Scanning
(2)Scan message3 and answer the following questions. If you find the answer, please circle it.
