Step 1. Warm-up

Play a guessing game: What kind of party or event do we have?

Free talk:Students talk about more kinds of parties or events.

Step 2. Presentation

1. Pair work: Inviting your friends.

A: We are going to have …? Can you come to the … ?

B: When is the party?

A: ….

B: Where is it?

A: ….

B: Sure. That sounds great./ I’d love to. But….

A: I’m glad you can come./

That’s too bad. Maybe another time.

Students read the invitation quickly and answer the two questions:

Who are invited?

Who is making the invitation?

3. Read the invitation carefully and answer the following questions.

1) What is the invitation for?

2) Where is it?

3) When will the event happen?

4) What will happen after this?

5) Do parents have to bring anything?

6) How should people reply to this invitation, and when?
