Ⅰ Warming up
Sing a song “If you are happy”.
Ⅱ Lead–in
Revise “If Clause” by asking the students two questions.
A: If you are happy, what will you do?
B: If I’m happy, I will …
A: What will make you happy?
B: If … , I will be happy.
Ⅲ Presentation
Ask the students the following question:
A: Which is the most important thing to you in your life?
B: I think … is the most important thing to me. Because if I … , I will …
Present the phrases : be happy, go the college, be famous, travel around the world, make a lot of money, get an education by showing the students some pictures. Let the students guess :“Which is the most important thing to him/her/them?”
Ⅳ Listening
Get the students to listen to two conversations to finish Activity 1b and 1c on Page 76. Then check the answers.
Ⅴ Role Play
Ask the students to work in pairs. A is Michael, B is Michael’s friend.
B gives A some advice and helps A to make a final decision.
Ⅵ Writing
Ask the students to suppose they are Michael and write a letter to the
soccer agent to tell him the final decision.
Ⅶ Circle Story
Ask the students to work in groups to make circle stories by talking about their dreams.
Homework
Write about your own dreams, using sentences with “if” and “will”.
