Step1 Review

Look at the pictures and review the sentence patterns we have learned last period. Make conversations in pairs.

Step2 Lead-in

Ask students a question “ If you find someone has some problems , will you help him or her?”. Lead in our new lesson: Bus Driver and Passengers Save an Old Man.

Step3 Read the passage and finish the tasks

Task1 Listen to the passage and answer the question. Do you think it comes from a newspaper or a book? How do you know?

Task2 Read the passage and check the things that happened in the story.

Task3 Read the passage and answer the questions.

Question1: Why was Wang Ping surprised that the passengers agreed to go to the hospital with him?

Question2:Did the passengers think Wang Ping did the right thing? How do you know?

Step4 Debate

If you see an old man fall down on the road, will you help or not?

Divide the students into two group : positive side and negative side. Then have a free debate.

Step5 Watch a short-play and make a summary about the reasons that people will help old man or not.

Step6 Homework

Will you help the old when he/she falls down on the street?

Please write a letter to the nespaper editor about your opinions.
