教学过程
Step I Lead-in
Greet the class as usual and talk something about volunteers with students.
Step II Presentation
Teach Activities 1a and 1b.
These two activities aim to lead students to learn new target language and phrasal verbs through writing practice.
Ask students to have a look at the sentences in the left column first. Then remember the meanings of them.
I’ve run out of it, means I’ve used it up, nothing left.
I take after my mother.
Take after- to be like sb. or be similar to sb.
I fixed it up.
Fix up- repair
I gave it away
Give away – to make a present of sth. to sb. ; donate
Let students look at the sentences in the right column, and ask them to match the sentences with similar meanings
After that, lead students to look at the two charts in 1b, and ask one student to read the sample sentence and explain it.
Read the instructions in 1b to the class. Then students make new sentences.
Step III Listening
Teach activities 1c and 1d
These two parts are designed to provide students with listening and speaking practice using the target language.
Tell students the boy’s name is Jimmy. Let students describe the picture in 2a. then play the tape, students listen and number the pictures.
Call students’ attention to the sentences in 2b. Ask students to read them and know the Chinese meaning. Then play the tape again, students listen and circle the correct answers.
Step IV Pair-work
This part is designed to train students’ oral English.
